  1. Take 3 tbsp each of toor dal and split green moong dal, wash under running water, after they are washed soak the dals / lentils for ten minutes.
  2. After ten minutes, add to your pressure cooker / pressure cooker vessel one chopped tomato, chopped spinach leaves, the soaked dals and 2 cups of water.
  3. Cook in the pressure cooker for 20 minutes or 2 whistles on medium flame – please note the cooking time may change as per the capacity of the pressure cooker.
  4. Once cooked remove the boiled soup, you can temper it just as it is or grind it in the mixer grinder to get a smooth texture.
  5. In a heavy bottom pan add one 1 tsp of olive oil / ghee / refined oil, once the oil is hot add the finely chopped garlic. Sauté for a minute and then add the dal / soup.
  6. Boil it for 3-4 minutes; adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve hot, if I had my way with a large dollop of home made white butter, but settled for brown bread instead.
