  2. Take 6 pieces bacon diced in small pieces

  12. Get 28 oz can whole canned tomatoes (smashed up) add with juice
  13. Prepare 6 oz can tomato paste (I only used half)
  14. Make ready 1 (16 oz) can pinto beans
  15. Take 1 (16 oz) can black beans
  16. Prepare 1 1/2 cups water (add more if needed.)
  17. Make ready 4 dashes worcestershire sauce
  18. Make ready 2 1/2 tsp beef soup base
  19. Make ready 3 tsp unsweetened coco powder
  20. Get 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  21. Prepare 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  22. Make ready Optional toppings:
  23. Make ready Sour cream, shredded cheese, diced onion, tortilla chips
Steps to make Lauren's Chili:
  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat. - Add the bacon. Cook till brown and crispy. (Don't drain the grease.) - Now add the ground beef. Cook till done. (Drain the grease). - Now add the jalapeno and onion and coco powder and cinnamon, stir and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for another minute or two.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, dried mustard, crushed red pepper, cumin, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.
  4. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, pinto beans and black beans and about 1½ cups of water, beef soup base and worcestershire sauce. - Simmer on low for at least 1 hr. - Take off heat and let sit for 30 minutes with the lid on so the seasonings can render together. - Or put in crockpot on low for at least 4 hrs. Add additional water as needed for desired consistency.
  5. Serve with toppings of your choice.
